The government is losing control of the Covid-19 situation, the Nationalist Party has claimed in a statement.

This, after the government took a number of “immature” decisions that “lacked vision,” the opposition said.

“The €300 vouchers should have only been given to vaccinated tourists as an incentive, and not to everyone, and the open the tourism sector needed to be more cautious.”

The PN said that the government has to assure that there is more strict enforcement in ports, that there is more rigorous contact tracing, and the government must address the situation of English language students caught in Malta after the government had encouraged them to come.

Unvaccinated students do not have a school to go to, the PN said. “This means that we have thousands of students going from one place to another, English schools are not the problem, but they can be part of the solution. The government must accept the request of English schools to open only for vaccinated students. It must also assist the same schools that are ready to offer teaching online.”

The PN appealed to the people to remain vigilant at this delicate moment.
