48 new Covid-19 cases found as cases decrease

48 new Covid-19 cases have been reported by health authorities as the number of new cases being found starts to decrease.

It’s the first time since 7 July that the number of cases has been less than 50.

120 people meanwhile have recovered, meaning that the number of active cases has decreased to 1,134.

No new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, and 36 Covid-19 patients continue to receive treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.

Four of those 36 are currently receiving treatment in ITU.

3,508 swab tests were administered on Thursday, taking the total number of swab tests so far up to 1,110,077.

Meanwhile, 770,496 doses of the vaccine had been administered up until Thursday, with 403,261 of those being first doses.

392,100 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 34,716 cases of the virus. 32,762 of those have recovered, while 424 have died.
