51 new Covid-19 cases reported as 100 recover

51 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Sunday, as the number of new recoveries continued to outweigh the number of new cases being found.

In fact, 100 new recoveries were reported on Sunday – meaning that the number of active cases has now dipped to 647.

No new deaths were reported on Sunday, although the number of people receiving treatment in Mater Dei’s Intensive Therapy Unit has increased from four to five.

A total of 38 Covid positive patients are currently receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.

3,290 swab tests were administered on Saturday, taking the total so far up to 1,140,272.

Meanwhile, 784,626 doses of the vaccine had been administered up until Saturday, with 407,948 of those being first doses.

404,679 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,337 cases of Covid-19 so far. 33,864 of those have recovered, while 430 have died.
