Media personality Peppi Azzopardi has written to Archbishop Charles Scicluna requesting that the Pope visits prisoners when he comes to Malta.

In a letter he uploaded on Facebook, the former Xarabank presenter said that "it seems" that Pope Francis will be visiting Malta "in December".

He said that he knows of arrangements being made for the Pope to meet with migrants, and requested that a similar meeting is held with prisoners being kept at Kordin.

Quoting from speeches made by Pope Francis about prisoners and how they should be treated, Azzopardi said the pope is greatly inspired by Jesus’ words “I was in prison and you came to visit me”.
