Three police officers were injured after they were attacked by a man in Marsascala, the police said.

The incident took place in Misrah is-Sliem, Zabbar, at around midnight.

The police received a report of a fight in the area. When the officers arrived on site, they found two men involved in a fight and they intervened to separate them.

One of the men, aged 48 of Marsascala, attacked the officers. He was handcuffed but remained aggressive and spat in the direction of the officers.

The police said that a man aged 22 of Marsascala and a woman whose identity is still unknown tried to prevent the officers from performing the arrest. They also threatened the officers.

The 48-year-old was arrested and taken to the police lock-up.

The three officers suffered minor injuries.
