Covid-19: 51 new cases, as number of active patients jumps above 550

The number of active Covid-19 cases continues to climb sharply as 51 new cases were found on Saturday, with only 12 recoveries, health authorities said.

There are now 552 active cases on the islands, the highest number since 21 September, when we had 554.

The authorities said the number of persons in hospital with Covid-19 is now 15, three of whom in intensive care.

The number of deaths remains at 462.

The total number of cases registered in Malta has climbed to 38,172, with 36,747 recoveries.

Till Friday, 903,363 vaccination doses were administered, of which 71,828 were booster doses.
