A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a car in Qormi on Sunday afternoon, the police said.

The accident took place in Triq it-Tigrija at 6.30pm.

The 43-year-old woman, from The Philippines and resident in Zebbug, was hit by a Maruti 800, driven by a 29-year-old woman of Siggiewi.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Astrid May Grima is leading an inquiry.
