Wednesday, 1 December 2021, 13:43 Last update: about 3 years ago

The Malta Police Union has issued directives over a registered dispute regarding Covid-19 booster shots during the festive period.

The union is requesting that Police Officers be given their third dose before the yuletide period begins.

"The Executive Committee of the Malta Police Union issued directives to its members as the issue of the Covid-19 booster (being given) to Police officers prior to the Yuletide period remains unresolved. The Union also notes that the industrial mediation process as described in the Collective Agreement for the Public Service is being hijacked, by including another Union which is not part of the Dispute registered by the Malta Police Union on the 18th November 2021."

The Union said it is aware that there are already over 1500 Police officers who registered to receive the booster dose.

Directives

As the priority of the Union is the safety and wellbeing of its members, it is directing its members who have not received their Covid-19 booster dose, with effect from 6am on Friday 3rd December 2021 to; During inspections of any type, refrain from entering any building and/or premises, except when there is a call for help, in case of emergency or danger to the safety of another person.

"These directives remain applicable for those members who have not been vaccinated with the booster. Police Officers who opted not to receive the Covid-19 vaccine or the Booster dose are not covered. Members who receive their booster dose shall cease to abide with the directives."
