A 58-year-old man was grievously injured on Friday after falling off a ladder, police said.

In a statement, the police said that the accident took place at around 11:30am inside a residence in Triq Fra Guzeppe in Pembroke.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man fell around a storey while he was on a ladder.

The man was subsequently taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were also on site to assist.  Police investigations are ongoing.
