Two people die with Covid-19, number of hospitalisations rises to 110

The number of Covid patients in hospital has now jumped to over 100, standing at 110, seven of whom are in the ITU.

This means that 11 more people are in Mater Dei Hospital with Covid-19 than there were on 1 January.

Two more people have died while Covid positive - two men, one aged 52 and the other 78. The total number of deaths has now reached 479.

747 new Covid-19 cases were registered on Sunday, the first time the daily number of cases was below 1,000 since 27 December.

279 people recovered from the virus.

This means that the number of active cases has risen to 12,688. It is the 11th day in a row that we have had record number of active cases.

Malta has had 54,188 cases of the virus so far. 40,672 of those have recovered.

1,073,046 Covid vaccines have been administered so far, 224,922 of which were booster shots.
