Two drivers were grievously injured in separate accidents in Zejtun and Birkirkara this morning.

The police said that the first accident took place at 6.30am in Triq Dahla ta’ San Tumas, Zejtun.

It involved a Seat Ibiza, driven by a 40-year-old man of Marsascala, and a Mitsubishi L200, driven by a 49-year-old man of Zejtun.

The 40-year-old man suffered grievous injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The second accident took place an hour later in Mriehel Road, Birkirkara.

It involved a Volkswagen Bora, driven by a 49-year-old man of Mgarr, and a Toyota Townace, driven by a 78-year-old man of Gzira.

The 49-year-old was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
