No Covid-19 related deaths reported for first time in a month

No Covid-19 related deaths were reported for the first time in a month, statistics issued by the health authorities show.

The last time no deaths were reported was on Monday, 17 January.

It is only the third time this year that no deaths related to Covid-19 were reported. Apart from today and 17 January, the other day was 3 January.

The authorities said that 109 new cases were recorded on Wednesday, with 292 recoveries.

This leaves the number of active cases at 1,197, while the number of deaths remains 594.

The number of people in hospital with Covid-19 are now 45, of whom three are in intensive care.

The number of vaccinations administered is now 1,233,948, with 339,312 booster doses given.

Malta has had 70,375 cases of the virus so far. 68,148 of those have recovered.
