Infrastructure Malta installed the first three frequency converters as part of the Grand Harbour Clean Air Project.

This was announced by Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg during a visit on site where these frequency converters are installed.

“Today marks another important step for this project but more than that, it is another step forward for our country in terms of sustainability and environmental vision. This further shows how progressive our country is.  This government recognised the Grand Harbour’s dynamic utilities and therefore we will be using it in the best possible way to continue make big steps forward in favour of clean environment and a greener lung. A total of 17,000 families will benefit from cleaner air thanks to these frequency converters which will convert electricity to supply shoreside electricity to cruise liners in the Grand Harbour, cutting 90% of their air pollution”, said the minister

In total, the project will include four frequency converters.
