The Nationalist Party has pledged to allocate a billion euros to create 10 new economic sectors as its first electoral pledge.

The Nationalist Party held a rally for its supporters on Sunday evening in what can be viewed as the official opening of its electoral campaign.

Prime Minister Robert Abela announced this morning that the election will be held on 26 March.

PN Leader Grech said that the Nationalist Party team has worked hard to prepare a positive electoral campaign which will bring about hope.

“The Labour Party thought that we would be unprepared and would catch us out, but we were prepared within the hour, and your presence have answered our call today,” Grech said.

“This campaign will require each and every one of you to become a protagonist and vote for the Nationalist Party on 26 March,” Grech said.

He added that “my dream is for this country to be the best it can ever be. I want to have a country that is proud.”

The PN’s official slogan for the election is “Miegħek. Għal Malta” which translates to “With you. For Malta.”

He stressed that he wants Malta to be known as a place where everyone can come and have fun but also ensure that there is a proper balance between work and family.

“The main difference between the PN and PL is that the Labour Party is divided with leaders who are in a conspiracy with criminals. On the other hand, the policy of the PN is to bring about wealth and good for its people,” Grech said.

He noted that the Labour Party started off this campaign with lies, describing the party as “factory of lies.” This statement was made with reference to the reports which said that Grech decided to drop the fifth district for the twelfth.

Grech confirmed that will still be contesting the fifth and eleventh districts.

“We are not perfect, but we have the most noble intentions to improve the lives of people. Do not believe those who say that politicians are all the same because this is not the case,” he said.

The President of the PN’s Political Research Martina Caruana kick started the first rally with her opening speech, saying that the PN’s promise is to address the suffering of the people and to make sure to fight for minorities in this country. This is primarily would be done so that no child is abandoned or left behind.

“The PN has always been loyal to its people and will continue to do so over time. On the other hand, due to the government’s behaviour, the reputation of our country has been tarnished,” Caruana said.

Caruana stressed that Malta deserves to have a Prime Minister like Bernard Grech who believes in the potential of Malta’s children, who inspires everyone to be better and who is determined to protect each and every citizen.

“We need to be courageous throughout this campaign because we changed this country once, and we will change this country again,” she said.

“Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech wants our country to win this campaign against crime and to have the much deserve change. Together what is impossible, becomes possible,” Caruana added.

For his part, PN Secretary General Michael Piccinino said that the Nationalist Party is more than ready to start the election campaign and become a part of the change that his country deserves.

“Don't let anyone convince you that Malta doesn't deserve the absolute best. This is a fresh new page where one has the possibility of electing a government that would prioritise the interests of the country's people,” Piccinino said.

Whilst speaking about the financing that comes with an electoral campaign, Piccinino claimed that the Labour Party has billboards all over Malta as well as PBS on their side who is being paid from income tax, whilst the Nationalist Party has only the public.

He encouraged people and families to collect donations for this electoral campaign and to volunteer, saying that the workload which comes with a campaign is extraneous and every support would be of help.

“Today we are being given the opportunity to work together for a Malta we truly want, for a Malta that gives you what you deserve as it is your right,” he said.

He urged people to support each other and convince others who might still be unsure in order to lure them in and be a part of this change that the Nationalist Party seeks to implement.
