ADPD launches its electoral campaign logo and slogan

Today, ADPD - The Green Party Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo introduced the election campaign theme and slogan: Xkupa Ħadra Tnaddaf - Green Sweeps Clean.

The country requires a good clean-up, he said.

"Our message is one which proposes a commitment which is respectful of our surroundings, of the ecology of which we form part. It is also a commitment in favour of ethical leadership, in favour of good governance. It focuses on the impact of bad governance on public administration."

The electoral manifesto is in the final stages of preparation. When concluded, it will be presented to the party's Executive Committee for its consideration and approval.

"It will not be a Father Christmas manifesto with individual promises to appease specific sectors. It will include proposals and electoral promises which seek to address the common good and develop a better country. This will be done through embedding sound ethics in government. By having fully functioning institutions which can take Government to task when and if necessary."

"We shall move forward with our ideas on the environment in its various aspects. Including environmental governance."

"After considerable delay, the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life was appointed. He had quite a plateful, his investigations leading to the resignation of two Cabinet members. Bad governance leads to reputational damage. It also leads to incorrect administrative decisions, like, for example, the sale of passports scheme which is a magnet for those seeking jurisdictions where ethical fiscal policy is notably ignored or absent. We have already been clear that ADPD will seek to abolish the golden passport scheme unconditionally."

"Parliament is among the institutions which require a good clean-up. Notwithstanding the discriminatory electoral legislation which we face, we have full confidence in the electorate, who will vote wisely. We will appeal for a first preference to all ADPD candidates which will be presented in each and every electoral district. We shall ensure that come March 26, proportionality is allowed to operate even in our favour. This is possible. However, if this does not materialise and proportionality is discarded and not applied relative to ADPD candidates, I give notice as of today that the party will make use of the constitutional remedies available to protect us from the discrimination which we have been subjected to for years."

"The party is dependent on inputs from volunteers. We have no employees. We receive few donations which in 2021 amounted to around €2,600. We will not be organising any campaign to collect funds as we do not wish to place any pressures on anyone. The little that we receive is appreciated. We plan our activities within the limits of the resources which we have. The party has no loans or overdrafts. Nor do we have access to commercial companies which serve as a hiding place for the receipt of illegal donations. It is with this in mind that we start this electoral campaign."
