A motorcyclist sustained grievous injuries in a traffic accident on Tuesday morning.

Police said that it was informed of an accident at around 8am on Tuesday at Foss ta’ Crown Works in Floriana.

Preliminary investigations showed that there had been a crash between a Toyota Belta being driven by a 57-year-old from Birzebbuga and a Piaggio motorcycle being ridden by a 45-year-old from Marsascala.

The motorcyclist was treated on site before being transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
