An investment of €1.5 million went towards a new showroom of the DARI establishment, an enterprise which manufactures local products by Maltese people.

DARI’s new showroom in the Ħandaq industrial estate was visited by Prime Minister Robert Abela on Wednesday, where he noted the zeal and local talent of the Maltese entrepreneur, who is capable of manufacturing a high-level product.

DARI, which is part of SAW Ltd, has more than 30 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, offering a wide selection of furniture made entirely from the ideas and creativity of Maltese minds.

During the visit, Abela praised DARI for its resilience during the challenges faced due to the pandemic.

DARI director and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Azzopardi said that the team felt the need to embark on a project in the local market, to offer a selection of locally manufactured high quality home furniture.

“This was possible because we invested a total €1.5 million in a new state-of-the-art showroom showcasing a variety of kitchens, bedrooms and living areas,” Azzopardi said.

DARI Commercial and Brand Manager Mark Cassar said that the name ‘DARI’ reflects everything which is Maltese, sending a message that the work and design is local and suitable for Maltese homes, catering to the tastes of the Maltese consumer.

Cassar said that DARI wants to be a sustainable example in everything it produces, having a lesser impact on the environment as it is produced locally, minimizing transportation almost entirely.

He also said that the factory operates with high efficiency due to the latest technology in machinery purchased, makes use of natural light, and generates a substantial percentage of electricity consumption via photovoltaic panels.

The factory does not generate additional waste due to the extra material being reused or recycled, Cassar said.

DARI currently employs a total of 70 people and the company plans to expand its team to continue to serve the Maltese consumer more efficiently and in a short amount of time.
