Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne on Monday tabled a Bill proposing amendments to the IVF law in Parliament, as was promised in the PL's electoral pledges.

Speaking about Mother's Day, which was celebrated last Sunday, he said that there are many women who felt that they are unable to have children and that "we should not hinder people from becoming parents since we have the necessary technology".

Fearne also addressed the 15% who decided not to vote during the last general election and said that the reason why this happened needs to be resolved.

He said that politicians should not remain indifferent to this 15% of the population.

"For other countries 85% turnout might be very good, but we are used to a higher one", he said.

He added that democracy is something which our ancestors fought for, with some of them dying, "whilst we take it for granted".

Fearne suggested that one of the messages which this 15% might have wanted to send is that they feel deluded by current politicians and the policies they embrace and that "we cannot leave it like that."

"Malta should be prioritized over political parties" he said.
