The man who was found dead in a field in Birzebbuga last Thursday is still to be identified, with the police saying that further tests are needed.

The body of a man in an advanced stage of decomposition was found in a field near Ghar Dalam, in Birzebbuga, on Thursday afternoon.

The police said that an autopsy on the body was carried out on Saturday, ruling out foul play or the involvement of third parties in the man’s death,

But the fact that the body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition has not helped the police identify the victim,

Forensic analysis is taking place to establish the victim’s identity.

The police are also waiting for the results of DNA tests, which are expected in the coming days.
