Man charged with Gozo thefts, remanded in custody after failing to pay court guarantee

A Libyan man was granted bail after being charged with a string of thefts in Gozo but was held under arrest after he failed to pay his court guarantee.

The man, 29, from Żebbuġ, was charged with having stolen two mobile phones, money, documents, bags and other objects on 19 June. The thefts took place in Ramla l-Hamra and at two establishments in Triq il-Port, Marsalforn.

The man was also charged with breaching bail conditions and relapsing.

He was granted bail against a number of conditions but was held under arrest after he failed to pay the personal guarantee.

Inspectors Josef Gauci and Bernard Charles Spiteri prosecuted. The case was heard before Magistrate Brigitte Sultana.
