A Georgian man died on Friday morning after he fell three storeys inside a construction site in Qormi.
The accident took place in tal-Handaq, limits of Qormi, at around 9am, the police said.
The casualty was 52 years old and lived in St Paul’s Bay.
He was assisted by a medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department and was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, he was certified dead a short while later.
Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry. Police investigations are also ongoing.
In a statement, the Occupational Health and Safety Authority said it is also investigating the accident.
“OHSA immediately started its investigations into the cause of this accident in terms of section 9 of the OHS Authority Act and will continue during the day. As the investigation is still ongoing, OHSA is not in a position to make other comments at this time.”
