111 new nurses have started their work with the public health service earlier this week.

89 of the nurses have just graduated from the University of Malta, while 22 have graduated from the University of Northumbria, United Kingdom.

During a visit at Mater Dei Hospital, Health Minister Chris Fearne said that the most important resource to the health service is the human resource.

He said that these past three years, over 440 nurses were recruited immediately after their graduation from the local universities, which has encouraged more young people to interest themselves in the profession of nursing.

Fearne wished the new nurses success in their career and encouraged them to continue specializing in different fields.
