A man has died after falling from a height in a construction site.

At 10.15am on Monday, the police were informed that their assistance was needed inside a construction site on Sqaq iż-Żiemel, limits of Handaq in Qormi.

A 57-year-old man from Birkirkara fell from a height of around five storeys while working on the site. Civil protection officers and a medical team went on scene, but the man was unfortunately certified as dead on site. Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace is leading a magisterial inquiry. Investigations are ongoing.

The Occupational Health & Safety Authority (OHSA) also said it is investigating this morning's accident. "The OHSA immediately started its investigations into the cause of this accident in terms of section 9 of the OHS Authority Act."

"As the investigation is still ongoing, the OHSA is not in a position to make other comments at this time."
