Watch: Campus Hub car park floods with water leaking onto electricity wires

Thursday, 22 September 2022, 17:04 Last update: about 2 years ago

The Campus Hub underground car park has flooded, with water leaking onto electricity wires after continuous rainfall on Thursday.

The videos show water leaking from the ceiling onto electricity wires. Water was leaking from the ceiling on every floor of the carpark.

The photos and videos also reveal flooding with water sitting at around 2cm.

Many students had complained about this last year, however, with the new semester starting next week, the problem does not seem to have been fixed.

The car park offers 500 car spaces and has been in operation since June 2021. It costs €2 to park for 24 hours.

Earlier this month, the University Students' Council (KSU) were vocal against the construction of the Campus Hub, as well as the hotel which is scheduled to be built.

"University will become suffocated by two major infrastructural projects that offer unaffordable and unsustainable options to students," said KSU President Alex Gaglione.

The construction of Campus Hub forms part of the Vassallo Group portfolio and it is the group's largest investment to date.

Today works are still ongoing and many students and residents have complained about the noise of construction.
