Events to commemorate 5th anniversary of Daphne Caruana Galizia murder announced

A number of NGOs are hosting multiple events to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The NGOs are Repubblika, Occupy Justice and manueldelia.com.

“We reiterate our commitment to insist that the whole truth be made known and that justice be done to those who killed her, and to those who by their actions or by failing in their duties, allowed her to be killed,” they said.

On Saturday, 8 October, there will the inauguration of the “'Daphne Eroj Maltija” exhibition at Bieb il-Belt Valletta, where a press conference will be held. The time will be announced later.

On Wednesday, 12 October 2022 at 6pm, a new documentary called “Daphne Eroj Maltija” will be launched, at the Valletta Campus Theatre.

The organisations also said that the documentary will be available to the media from 15 October 2022 onwards.

On Friday, 14 October 2022 at 10am, there will be an activity for youths with REA, JCB and Sam Christie, which will be presented by Peppi Azzopardi. This will take place in the theatre of the Missionary College of St. Paul, Emanuel Vitale street, Victoria.

On Saturday, 15 October 2022 9.30 am, there will be a seminar called “There is no Justice without Integrity.” This will be about the challenges faced by public institutions. The seminar is inviting academics, journalists, and professionals to discuss this theme.

At 6.30 pm there will be a talk with Carole Cadwalladr, author and investigative journalist from the United Kingdom, known among others for her work on the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal.

This is being organized together with the Fondazione Giovanni Falcone. It is being directed by George Vital Zammit, and it is being held in the Aula Prima of the Valletta Campus.

Sunday, 16 October 2022 at 9.30 am, there will be mass at Bidnija Church celebrated by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna. It is not allowed to take videos or photos in the church.

At 3pm there will be a silent meeting in memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia, at the explosion site in Triq il-Bidnija, Mosta.

At 6.30pm there will be a demonstration calling for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia in Republic Street, Valletta, which will start in front of the Parliament building.

At 7.30pm there will be a vigil calling for Justice at Pjazza tal-Assedju l-Kbir, Valletta. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola will take part among others.

On Monday, 17 October 2022 at 5.30pm, there will be an inauguration of murals in memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia by the University Student Council in Car Park 4 of the University of Malta, Msida.
