Minister for Health Chris Fearne revealed that there are 1,627 third-country national (TCN) nurses registered in Malta with the council of nurses and midwives.

1068 of these are Indians, which make up 65.64% of the total number. There are also 238 nurses from Pakistan and 120 nurses from the United Kingdom.

Fearne said this in reply to a parliamentary question submitted by Graziella Attard Previ.

Previ also asked for the number of nurses that resigned from January 2020 to September 2022. Fearne said that there have been 185 TCN nurses who have left Malta.
