A woman was arrested on Saturday after she was allegedly found to be trying to import heroin into Malta, the police said.

The woman, aged 22, from Portugal, was arrested at Malta International Airport on a flight from Paris.

The police said that she was allegedly carrying four kilogrammes of the drug.

The police, together with Customs Department officers, found the drugs hidden in a false bottom of the luggage the woman was carrying.

The value of the drug is around €520,000, the police said.
