56 new recruits have joined the police force as constables, after concluding their training course, a government statement read.

The training course, that took 6 months in the Disciplined Forces Academy, included physical and academic training.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri spoke, and said that the police must be a part of the community, not only to protect the vulnerable, but to be conscious of the needs of society.

He said that the police force experienced a lot of change recently. "Change that continued to strengthen the good over the years, and continued to change the force to face modern challenges."
