A motorcyclist has died after he was involved in a traffic accident in Sliema, the police said.

The accident took place in Tower Road at 11pm.

The biker, a 32-year-old man from Macedonia, was riding a Piaggio Vespa which was involved in a crash with an Isuzu D-Max being driven by a 29-year-old Syrian man, resident in Marsascala.

The biker was given first assistance by a medical team before being transported to Mater Dei Hospital, where he died some time later.

Magistrate Rachel Montebello is leading an inquiry.
