SKS Publishing House will celebrate 40 years of publications in the genres of history, literature, political theory, culture and biography at the Malta Book Festival between 23-27 November, SKS Directors announced when addressing a News Conference at the Fortress Builders in Valletta.

SKS will take part in the Book Festival with the publication of Ir-Re Borg, a satirical novel by Aleks Farrugia, a new edition of the classic novel L-Ibleh by Ġużѐ Orlando and The Analects of Confucius translated from Chinese into Maltese by Salvatore Giuffrè which will be simultaneously the first ever Maltese publication to be launched at the Beijing International Book Fair.

SKS has launched 190 publications from 1982 to date and has sold approximately 400,000 copies of books. SKS is committed to continuing to strive to inform and educate the general public by publishing high quality books based on a liberal view of life, history and literature, to provide writers and researchers of a similar persuasion the opportunity to publish their works, and to contribute towards social, cultural, intellectual and national enrichment.

SKS was founded in 1982 and during these 40 years it has published political, historical, biographical, educational writings, plays and novels, mostly in Maltese, some in English. While publications with political content had a left-wing political purpose, SKS never tried to influence what the writers wanted to write, not only in creative writing, but in every field.

SKS has the honor that among the writers in its publications there are men and women who were decisive in promoting the cultural, artistic, literary, political and social heritage. Among these are contributors ranging from the modern to the 'traditional' such as Frans Sammut, Mikiel Anton Vassalli, Manuel Dimech, Ġużѐ Bonnici, Ġużѐ Ellul Mercer, John F. Marks, Ġużè Diacono, Ġuzè Orlando, Juan Mamo, Anton Buttigieg, Anton Cassar, Mons Lawrenz Cachia, Karmenu Vassallo, Ġużѐ Chetcuti, Ġużѐ Cardona, Yosanne Vella, Giorgio Peresso, Alfred Sant all considered classics, and for researchers, critics and social commentators such as Pauline Miceli, Adrian Grima, Mario Azzopardi, Mark Vella, Immanuel Mifsud, Mark Montebello. SKS has also published translations that have never been seen before in the Maltese language ranging from Lu Xun, Cervantes, Charles Dickens, Nicholas Monsarrat to Confucius.
