Heavy rain has resulted in traffic and caused flooding in some areas around the Maltese islands.

The Facebook Group Malta Roads Traffic Update reported that the slip road coming from University roundabout direction towards Iklin was closed by police since the tunnel was heavily flooded. The police confirmed this and also said that some vehicles had stopped there.

Police also said that other areas have flooded, including near the roundabout leading to Mater Dei Hospital.

Motorists are urged to be cautious on the road.
