A month has passed since a wall in St Julian’s collapsed onto the road in bad weather, but repair work has not started and the stone slabs continue to block the pavement, endangering pedestrians.
What is worse is that the part of the wall which is still standing is resting against the electricity pole, pushing against it. There is danger that another part of the wall could collapse, bringing down the pole with it.
The wall is part of a field in Henry Calleja Street that is earmarked for development. A planning application which will include the construction of a new English language school in the vacant plot in St Julian’s was filed with the Planning Authority last August.

The wall had collapsed in a storm on 26 November, with stone slabs ending up on the road. Government workers had removed the slabs from the road, placing them on the pavement but, in doing so, blocking access to pedestrians.
People using the road have to walk onto the road to proceed in their journey.
In another part of the same street (photo below), the pavement has been literally broken into pieces as heavy vehicles have been mounted on it regularly while development takes place on the opposite side.
