The La Valette lounge at the departures is currently closed due to an incident resulting from the inclement weather.

In a statement, the Malta International Airport said that their "teams are currently working towards the safe reopening of the lounge. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."

A video of the damage to the lounge is making the rounds and shows what seems to be part of the drop ceiling as having fallen down. Water could be seen as well.

Reports on social media read that someone got hit by gypsum and needed medical attention.

Malta is currently being battered by storm Helios, and an Orange wind warning has been issued.
