MaltaPost employees were given an update on the company's performance for the previous year by chairman Joseph Said at the Annual Staff Meeting held recently at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julian's. Throughout the event, various postal employees were presented with special awards for their positive performance during the past year.
The awards form part of a series of motivational incentives that MaltaPost offers to its staff. Performance is monitored on a regular basis and the best achieving team is awarded on a quarterly basis. Joseph Gafa, CEO of MaltaPost, stated that: "The staff recognition programme was developed by MaltaPost to reward excellent customer service and a 'people-first' attitude."
This year, the Best Operations Unit award was won by the Courier Section. The Best Retail Branch award was won by the Marsa Head Office outlet for the quality of service given to customers and for the upkeep of the premises.
Alex Sammut from the Maintenance Section, was awarded the Employee of the Year prize due to his strong sense of loyalty and support, his positive work attitude and his eagerness to take on increasingly demanding duties.
The company Long-Service award was presented to the following employees:
For 10 years' service - Denise Bugeja, Melanie Vella, Sylvana Agius Carabott and Bernardette Scerri
For 15 years' service - Isabel Bajada, Joseph Fenech, Mary Denise Tanti, Keith Giordmaina, Charles Debattista, Mary Gambin and Josephine Farrugia
For 25 years' service - Alison Bonnici, Fiona Farrugia, Kevin Bajada, David Gray and Christopher Zammit
For 30 years' service - Stefania Camilleri
For 35 years' service - Paul Massa and Brian Sciriha
Arthur Portelli was presented with the Retirees award for his valued contribution towards MaltaPost goals throughout his 43 years of service.
