The Nationalist Party has presented inside information from a whistle-blower involved in the hospitals’ concession agreement to be used in the ongoing magisterial inquiry.

After the third National Audit Office (NAO) report revealed that former Labour Minister Konrad Mizzi “misled” cabinet and the investigative story by The Times of Malta, The Shift and OCCRP revealed that former prime minister Joseph Muscat is being investigated for a consultancy contract with a Swiss company that could have been used to disguise payments from the hospitals’ deal, an insider has stepped forward with supposedly new information to add onto the latest series of revelations.

PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut presented a court application on Thursday, which was signed by PN MPs Karol Aquilina and Joe Giglio.

The documents presented included the testimony of the whistle-blower, copies of agreements that were signed in the deal, and copies of emails and chats between representatives of Steward and Vitals, politicians from the government, high-ranking officials within the government, government legal consultants, and high-ranking officials with the public sector.

Sammut added that this person is also ready to come forward and testify before the inquiring magistrate.

Sammut said that the evidence shows that there was “fraud, collusion between politicians, public officials and businessmen; threats and false declarations.”

This was announced during a press conference on Thursday outside the law courts where PN leader Bernard Grech and PN MPs Sammut, Adrian Delia, Joe Gigilio and Karol Aquilina were present.

Speaking outside the law courts during the press conference, Sammut explained how this person approached him a few days ago, with information about the concession agreement and the transfer from Steward to VGH.

“This is the first time that a person who knew what was happening has stepped forward and given this information to be used to seek the truth.”

Grech mentioned how so far the Police Commissioner has still done nothing, therefore, the PN felt obliged to pass this information to the inquiring magistrate.

He said that the courts were “the last bastion of democracy in our country.”

NGO Repubblika has also presented two court applications to the inquiring magistrate asking them to include the information revealed from the NAO report and to include the investigative stories that were uploaded in the inquiry.
