Malta Institute of Privacy Law formed to champion data protection rights and legislation

Today, five years following the coming into force of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a group of twenty data protection lawyers have come together to form the Malta Institute of Privacy Law (MIPL), with the aim of acting as a central point of reference in discussions with public authorities relating to the formulation of legislation, sectorial policies and guidelines in the field of data protection, carrying out and publishing studies and position papers and educating stakeholders through campaigns, conferences and publications on the subject of data protection law.

Paul Micallef Grimaud (Ganado Advocates), Claude Micallef Grimaud (Mamo TCV), Sharon Xuereb (Camilleri Preziosi), Jackie Mallia (GVZH Advocates) and Philip Formosa (Ganado Advocates) will be the first administrators of the MIPL.

Paul Micallef Grimaud, Claude Micallef Grimaud and Sharon Xuereb will occupy the roles of President, Secretary General and Treasurer, respectively.
