The police arrested a 39-year-old man who resides in St Paul's Bay shortly after he allegedly stole a parked car, on Saturday.
The police were informed at around 3pm that a Renault Megane had been recently stolen on Geramino Abos Street, Iklin by a man fitting the description of the alleged thief.
Once arriving on the scene the police began searching for the suspect until they eventually found the stolen vehicle on Tigrija Street, Marsa.
Shortly after, the police found and arrested the man matching the given description. The police searched the man and found various items related to the stolen car, as well as drugs related to cocaine abuse.
The police also discovered that the man had a Kymco key in his possession and the car that matched this key was found on the same street, Tigrija Street, abandoned.
When the police tested the key, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen last week from Naxxar Street, Birkirkara.
The man is currently being held in custody at the police lockup in Floriana and is expected to appear in court tomorrow, at 11:30am, before Magistrate Charmaine Galea.
