PN suggests cancer treatment to be provided entirely by State to avoid bureaucracy

The Nationalist Party has publicly expressed its concern towards what it described as the now unsustainable process through which chemotherapy is sought to efficiently be distributed to cancer patients.

Stating that local pharmacists have already pointed out this present issue, PN said that it is unacceptable how several patients must personally seek the care they require.

While thanking the Office of the President, through which treatment is provided to many victims via the Community Chest Fund, the Nationalist Party said that the State must seek more optimal solutions.

The party suggested that, to increase this needed efficiency, all cancer care should be provided entirely by the Government.

PN believe that this proposal should ensure the timely treatment of these sick persons without external barriers like bureaucracy coming in the way.

The Opposition also stated that there exist many sustainable models which the Government can adopt to guarantee timely and effective chemotherapy to those who require it.

The party concluded its statement by saying that they have been presenting similar proposals as they believe in the importance in providing quality care to all hospital patients.

The statement was signed by the PN’s health spokesperson Stephen Spiteri.
