Malta as seen by a foreigner: ‘constant construction site’, ‘traffic jams’, ‘no safe spaces’

Tuesday, 22 August 2023, 14:06 Last update: about 9 months ago

Malta is a “constant construction site” where “sudden traffic jams happen” and kids have “no safe spaces”.

This is what a foreigner says in a 15-minute video during which he highlights all the notorious problems and shortcomings Malta has, with particular attention to the St Paul’s Bay area.

The video, entitled "Avoid Malta in 2023", was uploaded on the Alex Mark Travel youtube page on 13 August, and has so far captured nearly 9,000 views.

In comments beneath the video, some agreed with him wholeheartedly, while others disagreed saying that Malta is a beautiful place to live in.

The video starts with a question: "Should you come to Malta in 2023? My answer is no".

It then goes on to describe uncleanliness issues, such as the problems in the waste collection services; the pollution created by construction sites; the traffic jams and the absence of green spaces.

He mentions the power cuts crisis we had in July and the decision to carry out road works on major projects simultaneously which hit the traffic flow hard.
