Tuesday, 22 August 2023, 12:09 Last update: about 3 years ago

The final of the Eurovision song contest will no longer be a live performance by the participants, but a live-on-tape performance to be streamed to audiences, according to new rules announced by PBS on Tuesday.

All 12 songs in the final shall be performed live-on-tape on a special dedicated stage with a recorded backing track complying with the competition requirements.

Three takes of the song will be filmed within a 60-minute session, and one is then selected.

A maximum six artists will be allowed on stage. Small props are accepted depending on the size of stage, only under the direction of the MESC Production team.

These twelve (12) performances will be subject to a jury vote and a public vote.

Participants may apply until 20 September 2023, and will be judged by an expert jury who will choose the songs that will participate in the MESC 2024 semi-finals.

During the final evening, the vote of the jury and the public will determine the winner who will be representing Malta in the Swedish city of Malmo, during the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
