Drivers are being directed not to pass through part of the Birkirkara bypass and Ganu Street following a fuel spill which occurred at around 3pm Wednesday afternoon.

The Malta Independent was told that following a crash between a car and a truck that resulted in no injuries, the truck's fuel tank pierced open, resulting in a significant diesel spillage in the Birkirkara Bypass (Dun Karm Street).

The fuel seeped onto the main road, and some of it continued to trail into Ganu Street. For further clarification, this spillage occurred by the roundabout, in front of where Zanzi Homes is located.

Officials are at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid passing through the area for the time being.
