This collection of works, entitled Innerscapes, will show a different perspective from Fabio Borg's solo exhibition last October, Landmarks. Even though some paintings consisting of recognisable elements, that the viewer could easily establish a rapport with, his work has of late evolved a more abstract dimension. Hence the title Innerscapes, because they are more personal and intimate. This is combined with a minimalist appearance that is achieved through a limited use of colour and an economic use of compositional lines. In fact, Borg's art sometimes has become more monochromatic than ever. To this effect, he has recently also become more conscious of the fact that one can effectively convey ideas through a minimal use of colour and composition.

He comments: "I did not produce these paintings looking around our landscapes or painted 'Plein Air', rather I searched in my inner self to produce these works. I always enjoy working from my studio because it provides the ideal environment in which I can nurture and express my thoughts. Some of this work was produced fast. The idea was to try and capture that moment's emotions, feelings.

I hope this collection will suffice in arousing emotions in the viewer since, for me, these paintings perfectly express my feelings caused by my unique perspective. In actuality, I am also realising how significant the conceptual aspect is in art, and at times, arguably, this is even more important than the actual execution of the work. As a matter of fact, this coming October, I will be participating in a collective exhibition in Italy with an installation piece."

'Innerscapes' will be showing at Gemelli Art Gallery, Ta'Qali, from 6th to 30th September, 2023.
