Prime Minister Robert Abela on Tuesday inaugurated the first indoor Olympic-size pool within the Cottonera sports complex.
Addressing those present, Abela said the pool was another project through which the government was investing in the common good.
Some €14 million were invested in the pool which, Abela said, was situated in the southern part of Malta because the government wanted to reach out to everyone.
Such an investment means that Maltese children can aspire to reach the same goals as their peers abroad, Abela said.
The pool is equipped with all the facilities one would expect in a modern complex, the Department of Information said. The roof of the building complements the surrounding bastions.
The size of the pool satisfies the requirements of the international swimming federation.
