Footage of water leaking from the ceiling at the Mater Dei Hospital emergency department has been posted online by Nationalist MP Ian Vassallo.

The footage shows water leaking through the soffit onto the floor, with medical staff trying to contain the spread.

The MP said that the footage was sent to him last night.

He remarked that so much could have been done to take care of our hospitals instead of giving €400 million to private companies.

He was referring to the deal reached by the Labour government for the transfer of three public hospitals to the private sector. That deal was rescinded by a court of law last February.
