A bootcamp was held for students between the seventh and ninth school year, where the students were taught the processes and the work behind the development of a particular technology.

58 students attended the Bootcamp Xploring Intelligence at the University, following which they were given a certificate for their participation. After this year's success, this initiative will be held again next year.

This initiative was launched through a collaboration between the Maltese Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA), Tech.mt and the eSkills Foundation, the Ministry for the Economy, European Funds and Lands and the University of Malta.

The Minister for the Economy, European Funds and Lands Silvio Schembri said that "the bootcamp was an intensive one-week experience, during which our young people could better understand the processes used to create the technology they use in their daily lives."

Schembri said that more students should be encouraged to choose technological subjects for their studies. "These are the jobs that we need today, and we will need for the future, and you are our future," said the Minister, as he urged the students to attend the TECHXPO – an expo on the technological world that will be staged at the MFCC in Ta' Qali, on 21 September.

The Pro Rector of the University of Malta Frank Bezzina said that "this bootcamp, is a step in the right direction to create a future that is closer to a future with advanced technology.”

“By nurturing the minds of our youth and exposing them to new technology like AI, we are planting the seeds for future generations who can drive innovation and positive change,” he said.

MDIA CEO Kenneth Brincat said that “an initiative like this (the bootcamp) together with others continue to prepare future generations and our country to continue strengthening its human resources, especially in a scenario where we see an ever-growing demand for people with skills in this sector."
