Prime Minister Robert Abela held bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Andorra as his engagements in New York City continue.

Abela is in New York for the United Nations’ General Assembly.

Accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Ian Borg, Abela held meetings with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Andorran Prime Minister Xavier Espot Zamora, where a number of topics were discussed.

These included each respective country’s relationship with Malta, the European Union, and international conflicts around the world particularly within the context of Malta’s status as a member of the United Nations Security Council.

Abela also attended a photographic exhibition focused on the destruction of cultural heritage which certain conflicts bring.

He attended together with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the wife of the President of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The exhibition focuses on the need for international solidarity even so that cultural heritage can be preserved, as once it is lost it can never be brought back.
