TM licence scandal: PN says government doesn’t care about people’s safety

The revelations in the Times of Malta continue to "reveal how Robert Abela's government doesn't care about people's safety, not even on the roads," as they are only interested in winning votes, the PN said in a statement.

The Sunday Times of Malta reports that a Transport Malta racket to help candidates obtain a driving licence leads straight to minister Ian Borg and his trusted workers.

This latest scandal, the PN said in a statement signed by MP Adrian Delia, "continues to throw salt in the wound for those who once believed that the Labour government is genuine in its actions."

"What is holding Robert Abela from making Minister Ian Borg carry some form of political responsibility? Now that he knows for certain about this scandal, what steps will he be taking?"

"Officials within the Labour Party boasted that they passed the test, people who are a danger for Maltese citizens on the roads."

"The same report reveals that Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa had the chat logs and did nothing."

The PN said that it is shameful that, in a period of a few weeks, "we are living in a new scandal. A scandal that has once again brought inequality to the people."

The PN said that Abela is without direction, with "the politics of deception taking the only priority. Abela is only interested in the number of votes. For him, people are only a vote."

The PN has a vision, providing security, it said.
