1,401 irregular migrants caught living in the country between January 2022 and September 2023

A total of 1401 people have been caught living in the country irregularly between January 2022 and September 2023, Home Affairs minister Byron Camilleri said on Tuesday.

Answering a parliamentary question by PN MP Graziella Galea, the minister said that during the indicated timeframe, the authorities have conducted several regular inspections.

The countries from which these people came are: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, China (including Hong Kong), Colombia, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, India, Indonesia, Iran, South Korea, Liberia, Libya, Mali, Mauritius, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russian Federation, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Macedonia, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom , United States of America, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam.
