Over 1000 people are on the waiting list for knee replacement procedures for longer than is stipulated within the Patients' Charter.
Nationalist MP Ian Vassallo asked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne how extensive the waiting lists for partial and total knee replacements are during a parliamentary questions session on Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister Fearne answered that the waiting list for partial knee replacements of those who have waited longer than is stipulated in the Parients' Charter currently totals to 72 individuals.
In regards to total knee replacements, he said that the waiting list of those who have waited longer than is stipulated in the Parients' Charter is currently made up of 991 individuals.
Vassallo also asked the Deputy Prime Minister how long the waiting list for the hip replacement procedure is, to which Fearne replied that there are currently 180 people on the list who have waited longer than is stipulated in the Parients' Charter.
