68,755 third-country-nationals were registered as working in Malta in July 2023

There were a total of 68,755 third country national workers registered as working in Malta in July of last year.

Finance Minister Clyde Caruana replied to a parliamentary question made by PN MP Graziella Galea, who asked the Minister how many foreign persons were registered as workers in Malta during the year 2023, month by month. Galea also asked for the origin-country of these workers, including those coming from the European Union.

There was a total of 34,900 persons who were EU nationals registered for work in Malta by July of 2023. A further 412 came from the EEA / EFTA.

The top three EU countries from where workers came were Italy (11,566 persons), Romania (2,610 persons), and Croatia (2,576).

Caruana also gave information on third-country-nationals registered for work in Malta, where there was a total of 68,755 persons registered in July 2023.

The top three countries in this category from where workers came to Malta were from India (13,158 persons), followed by the Philippines (9,560 workers) and Nepal (8,157 workers).
